How is Â鶹´«Ã½ working to become a net-zero company?

We’re taking a science-driven approach, and are leading our industry with science-based targets and a clearly defined net-zero roadmap.

We were among the first companies worldwide to have our 2030 and 2050 CO₂ reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and are making strong progress towards our 2030 targets, in line with SBTi’s revised 1.5°C.

To achieve our 2030 and 2050 targets, we’re focusing on three levers: 

• Formulations: Developing cements and concretes with lower clinker content and increasing use of alternative raw materials and binders. 
• Energy: Increasing use of alternative fuels, investing in renewable energy sources, and improving energy efficiency in our operations. 
• Advanced technologies: Pioneering and scaling advanced technologies, with a focus on carbon capture.

Our net-zero pathway does not rely on offsets.

How is Â鶹´«Ã½ advancing circular construction?

Using our proprietary ECOCycle circular technology, we recycle construction demolition materials (CDM) back into high-value building solutions.

As part of our NextGen Growth 2030 strategy, we aim to recycle over 20 million tons of CDM per year by 2030 as we build cities from cities.

What is Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s sustainable offering?

Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s sustainable offering centers on our global brands, ECOPact low-carbon concrete, and ECOPlanet low-carbon cement, both of which reduce embodied carbon emissions by at least 30% without offsets.

We’re targeting over 50% of net sales from ECOPact and ECOPlanet in their respective categories by 2030.

How is Â鶹´«Ã½ building a nature-positive future? 

Our Nature Strategy focuses on restoring and preserving biodiversity and freshwater ecosystems, partnering with leading NGOs, coalitions and others. 

We’re building a nature-positive future by targeting a 33% reduction in operational freshwater withdrawal by 2030 relative to our 2020 baseline. 

We are also among the first companies worldwide to establish SBTN-validated science-based targets for nature and freshwater protection. 

We offer customers a broad range of building solutions to bring nature into cities, including Hydromedia permeable concrete, bioactive marine concrete from Xstone and Zinco green roofs.
