Â鶹´«Ã½ pioneers high-performance, circular roofing
Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s roofing membrane manufacturing site in Heinsberg, Germany is setting a standard for circular roofing, with a new, advanced line that will recycle production scrap into high-quality raw materials – to produce up to 12 million m2 of single-ply roofing membranes a year.
When it launches in H2 2027, this state-of-the-art line will combine low-energy production and an integrated recycling process that achieves near zero manufacturing scrap to landfill.
This first-of-its-kind facility in Europe proves that circular roofing is practical, scalable, and profitable. By expanding high-value building solutions and setting sustainability benchmarks, Â鶹´«Ã½ is reinforcing our vision to be the leading partner for sustainable construction.
By reusing 100% of our Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) and Polyisobutylene (PIB) edge trim offcuts, we are turning them into a valuable resource as sustainability drives profitable growth at Â鶹´«Ã½. This facility also supports our NextGen Growth 2030 strategy ambition to recycle more than 20 million tons of construction demolition materials by 2030.
Why is it important to recycle roofing membranes?
TPO and PIB are single-ply roofing membranes used primarily on flat and low-slope roofs. Recycling them keeps valuable polymers out of landfills and reduces the embodied carbon of building envelopes, by eliminating the need for primary raw materials.
The line in Heinsberg uses innovative twin-screw extrusion technology and delivers:
